A Flip For The Fall
Location // Camarillo, CA
When someone has lived in a home for 52 years, there is sometimes no other way to update it than to destroy it.
A NEW HOME IN AN OLD ‘HOOD.
The sweet owner of this home crossed over the rainbow and left her 1300 square foot memory box to her kids and grandkids. They had no idea what to do with a house that had sixty year old electrical and forty year old carpet. They knew they weren’t going to live in it, and they also knew that no one else would either. Next step: call a Contractor.

GET TO WORK.
Working with Cassandra Sutton Homes as the agent on the project, she knew the market and she knew the demographic of the buyer which is clutch in a new-build staging project. We worked together to curate the look that we wanted for this home. We knew it was going to have a very clean and open feeling due to the new floor plan, but we really needed to compliment that with the furnishings. It is located in an older neighborhood and we wanted to bring some of this rural / vintage vibe to our newly constructed space and create a cohesive balance between the two.
Being so close to the ocean, this blue/green tone works very well in these coastal towns in California. Popping that cool tone with the warmer gorgeous floors was a combo that worked out really well. We took old stools and chairs [and I mean … old!] and painted them white with some Annie Sloan followed by some sandpaper and a matte spray finish - boom, we have seating that keeps with our design style! Creating spaces in the home that were visually comforting as well as easily manipulated to get a different layout if desired was one of our main goals with our furniture layouts.
In staging, it is our job to tell the story of the space: A story that a buyer will read during their walkthrough, and want another chapter by the time they leave.
